Peter Matthiessen, R. I. P.
Peter Matthiessen died. His writing, particularly The Snow Leopard, made a big impression on me. And some early explorations I took in The Paris Review opened my eyes to a different kind of world, a literary world, that was interesting, challenging, provocative, and humanistic. To me, Peter Matthiessen is someone to learn from and to some extent, pattern after. Thank you Peter.

Another in the "You Are Here" series
Thanks to Spaceref, a link to a paper describing the local set of galaxies within which we find ourselves.
Kinda boggles the mind. Wonder how many other minds there are in this region writing similar papers.
